HomeServicesDrain Repair Windsor

A cracked or collapsed drain doesn't announce itself. You notice a smell, a patch of lawn that stays wet, or a blockage that keeps coming back. By the time those signs show up, the pipe has usually been failing for a while.

We repair drains across Windsor and the surrounding SL4 area, seven days a week. Where the pipe allows it, we'll reline it without digging. Where it doesn't, we excavate only what's needed and put it right properly.

What causes drain pipes to crack or collapse

Most failures in Windsor properties come down to a handful of causes.

  • Ground movement, especially in areas close to the Thames floodplain around Datchet, Old Windsor and Eton Wick
  • Tree root ingress from mature trees in gardens across Clewer Village, Clewer South and the older parts of Dedworth
  • Pipe corrosion in Victorian-era clay drainage, common in Spital and Eton
  • Poorly made joints from previous DIY or low-grade repair work
  • Simple age. Cast iron and pitch fibre pipes from the mid-twentieth century fail eventually

A CCTV survey tells us exactly where the fault is and what condition the rest of the pipe is in before we commit to a repair method. That matters, because replacing one section of a pipe that's failing in three places is a waste of your time and money.

No-dig relining: what it involves and when it works

Drain relining is the preferred method where the pipe's structural profile is intact enough to line. We pull a resin-impregnated liner through the existing pipe, inflate it against the pipe wall and allow it to cure in place. The result is a smooth, continuous new pipe inside the old one.

Relining works well when:

  • The pipe has cracks, fractures or root ingress but hasn't fully collapsed
  • It runs under a driveway, patio or garden you'd rather not dig up
  • The diameter and alignment allow the liner to pass through without buckling

It isn't always possible. A pipe that's dropped significantly, has a crushed section or is misaligned beyond a certain degree needs excavation. We'll tell you which applies after the survey, not after we've already quoted for relining.

When excavation is the right call

Some repairs need a spade. A section of drain that's fully collapsed, badly offset or sitting in the wrong gradient won't be fixed by a liner. Relining over a structural problem that requires excavation just delays the next failure.

When we do excavate, we dig the minimum area needed to access the fault. We work in sections, shore the trench correctly and reinstate surfaces to match what was there before. If you're in a terrace in Clewer North or a period property in Cranbourne, we're careful about what we dig up and how we leave it.

All excavation work is carried out by fully insured, DBS-checked engineers using Water Jetting Association methods for any associated jetting. Drain repairs and relining carried out by Drainsco carry a 20-year guarantee.

How we decide which method fits your job

The decision isn't made on the phone. It's made after a CCTV survey that shows us the pipe on screen.

Common Windsor scenarios

Properties in Bray and Wraysbury see a lot of ground movement-related pipe damage, particularly in gardens close to the river. In Ascot and Cranbourne, older clay drainage on large plots tends to suffer root intrusion from established trees. Terraced housing in Eton and Slough often has shared drainage that was laid in sections over decades, with mismatched joints that eventually fail.

Datchet and Egham properties, many of them on made-up ground, also produce their share of dropped pipes and fractured joints. If you're in any of these areas and you're seeing the signs, it's worth getting a camera in rather than waiting.

We cover the whole SL4 postcode and the surrounding villages, including Maidenhead, Egham and Wraysbury.

FAQ

A single run of domestic drain, say 10 to 15 metres, usually takes between half a day and a full day once we're on site. That includes cutting out any roots, preparing the pipe surface, pulling the liner through and allowing cure time. Longer runs or pipes with multiple access points take longer. We'll give you a realistic timeframe when we've seen the survey footage.
